Christ Episcopal Church of Puyallup
This Sunday

August 30th
The Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost
(Proper 17)

Lord of all power and might, the author and giver of all good things: Graft in our hearts the love of your Name; increase in us true religion; nourish us with all goodness; and bring forth in us the fruit of good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.

8am: Holy Eucharist
Our early service is unaccompanied by music and usually lasts about 50 minutes. Coffee and fellowship are offered before the service begins in the parish hall, while the sanctuary is available for quiet prayer. Another coffee hour follows the service.

9am: Bake Sale and 'Support the Troops' Mailing
Come early or stay late, pick up some delicious baked goods or garden fresh produce and help fill up the care packages for mailing to military personal serving overseas.

10am: Holy Eucharist
Our late morning service is accompanied by organ music and congregational singing while our choir is on sabbatical for the summer months. Sunday school is also taking a summer vacation, but Nursery care is always available for our youngest members and guests. A festive coffee hour for children and adults follows the Eucharist.

Bake sale benefiting the women's retreat will be after each service this Sunday, August 30th.  We'd like to request the cooks and gardeners please bring baked goodies, jams, garden produce to sell.   There will also be aprons for sale. All proceeds will go towards defraying the costs for all and providing full or partial scholarships for the Women's retreat, October 23-25th at St. Andrew's House.     So come with something to contribute to the sale and/or plan to take home something tasty for your Sunday lunch.

Support our Troops mailing will be August 30th. There is a list of wanted items printed on gold paper on the welcome table in the Parish Hall. Let's start collecting items soon so we will have lots of boxes to mail. Monetary donations are always welcome, too, to cover postage costs.

Due to the fair in September the Knitting Ministry will not be meeting at Helen Godwin's.  Instead, plan to meet at Forza (as we used to do) on Monday Sept. 21st for those who don't want to miss September.  In addition to the regular prayer shawls, there is a need for preemie hats for the hospitals  and patterns are available for making these.
